Love Local!

September 16, 2011

We’ve picked up two great local designers in the past couple of weeks, Engels by Design and Mae J’Adore. Come by to check out their fab lines! Here’s a little taste….

Raw edge leather clutches from Engels by Design. She also does jewelry that is definitely worth checking out!

Mae J'Adore created these edgy and on-trend earrings, made of chain. They can be cut to match the length of your hair.

Get Feathered

April 3, 2011

Feathers are a hot trend right now–and local jewelry designer Hot Mamas (not to be confused with the store)  just dropped off some earrings that you are going to LOVE!  Ranging in price from $20-40, these feather light (groan…) earrings will add style to any outfit.

Courtney wearing ivory feather earrings from Hot Mamas, $20.

We have a variety of colors and lengths available!

Another trend in feathers is bonding them into your hair–one brand, Featherlocks (shown below), are actual feathers available in an array of colors. They are easily and inexpensively applied to your hair to add subtle or dramatic highlights without damage or altering color.  They can be washed/curled/styled just like regular hair.  They are available at many salons throughout the city, but I know for sure that Tiffany over at Sa Bel Salon does them if you’re interested in more info!

TFNC: The “it girl” factor

November 16, 2010

You know that dress line…..it’s your “go to” for that special event that makes you look–and feel–amazing EVERY time.  Before I opened the store, it was BCBG for me.  Now, one would hope you always find it at Drama.  😉   Introducing the best dress line ever:  TFNC, which stands for “Time For New Clothes”.  I have never been so excited to introduce a new line!

They are a success story that began in the early 80’s, emerging as one of the most popular brands in Europe. Apart from their stores in London, TFNC also has a strong presence in Topshop, the ultimate shopping destination in the world as they offer cutting edge style before anyone else, for a reasonable price!  TFNC is well regarded by the British press for bringing the catwalk to the door.  The line is conceived by a brilliant team of designers in London, Paris and Milan, who re-create the latest and most exclusive fashion trends and make them accessible.

Drama is the EXCLUSIVE retailer of TFNC in Minnesota.    Their dresses retail between $110 and $150, and are OH-so-fabulous.  A few pics below……we have the in-store NOW, so stop by soon to grab your fave!!!

Introducing: Anoname Denim!

June 23, 2010

We have been searching for a premium denim line that doesn’t break the bank, and it hasn’t been easy!  So we are very excited to introduce you to our new denim line Anoname, which retails for around $110.  We love the fit and the fabric almost as much as we love the price!  But don’t listen to us, listen to the experts:

From Denim Debutante, an online jeans review site:

Anonamé Jeans(pronounced a-NA-nah-mee) is a unique denim line that fills a void in the market – a fashion forward, flattering, contemporary jean that hovers around $100 – $120 retail. Anonamé can be merchandised right next to the ‘it’ premium denim brands of today, and provide customers with a fashion-forward alternative in the form of unique washes and novelty details previously unseen at this price point.

As Anonamé enters into its fifth year in business, it has firmly established itself as a denim line that caters to ladies of all ages. Celebrities from MTV’s Lala and Vanessa Minnillo, singers Jojo and Rihanna to Tara Reid and Brooke Shields wear Anonamé styles that all flatter all their different shapes and sizes.

Let me start my official review with this: these jeans do NOT feel like they retail for $110. The denim is soft, comfortable and doesn’t have any of that drier, slightly itchy feel that some denim has. The detailing is exquisite and flattering, actually slimming (which many brands try to do but few succeed at) and truly add to the jeans instead of distracting the wearing from the pair’s pitfalls.

They offer the average range of sizing (it says 25-32, but they do actually run down to a 24), four different fits (Bootcut, Flare, Skinny and Straight Leg) and have a pretty nice selection of washes. But their strength is how fashionable and “trendy” they are while still being wearable and not obnoxious (which, as you know, is a BIG selling point in my book). They have appeal to the younger crowd but are still accessible to pretty much any age range.

These are worth saving your pennies for two reasons: their figure-flattering, comfortable design and… well, and the fact that it takes far fewer pennies to get there. I want more of these jeans.

We agree.  Friday we are set to receive our first pair–the Joelle Bootcut in their Teaser wash.  Mid-rise, totally cute, and only $110.  😉  See the pics, and stop in this weekend to try a pair on!

DRAMA to be featured in NYE fashion show at IMS

December 16, 2009

Drama will featured in a runway fashion show this NYE hosted by Project Runway’s Christopher Straub and Ra’mon Lawrence Coleman.

When the ball drops in the Big Apple, the hottest party in Minneapolis will just be getting underway, as the Twin Cities top promoters, fashionistas, bands and DJ’s join forces to throw a New Year’s Eve event not to be missed.  The Crystal Ball has grown exponentially since its inception, ringing in past New Year’s with as many as 1,500 guests. The event will once again return to The International Market Square and is on par to be the biggest one yet. Whether mingling at one of 20 bars, relaxing with bottle service in the STOLI Elit Lounge, or hitting either of the spacious dance floors in the two rooms of music, The Crystal Ball will have plenty of options for guests to create their own perfect New Year’s experience.

Fresh off the release of their new CD, this year’s event will feature none other than Minneapolis favorite, The New Congress, plus DJ Tink, Benjamin Michaels, and DJ Stretch in the main room playing the latest and greatest soul, funk, top-40, and hip hop. The reSOULution lounge will carry on the house music tradition previously found at the Millennium Hotel and feature DJ’s Alex Jarvis, Big Mama J, Bryan Gerrard, Chico Brown, J Matthews, Nate Laurence and Patrick James spinning deep and soulful tunes.

Bringing style to the stage is a 30-minute high-energy fashion show produced by Ignite Models, Inc.    Ignite took the Twin Cities by storm combining only the very best in fashion, art and music through signature events including ENVISION and FAME, and on New Year’s Eve these lovely ladies will pull out all of the stops. The beautiful Ignite Models will kick off the evening festivities by showcasing collections from eight local designers/boutiques including: OPM Boutique, Drama, V State, Amanda Christine, kjurek couture, Parc Boutique, and PFT Couture, while Project Runway’s Ra’mon Lawrence-Coleman and Christopher Straub will host the fashion show, and will be previewing some pieces from their holiday collections. Stylists from Rocco Altobelli work their hair and makeup magic to bring the runway show to life.
