News: Evisu Denim Shuts Down NYC Headquarters

August 11, 2010 NEW YORK—Evisu, the Japanese premium denim brand, has reportedly shut down their New York office and laid off all of its senior staff, including creative director Scott Morrison. Evisu, which is owned by a Hong Kong-based investment firm, was founded in 1988 by a Japanese denim enthusiast named Hidehiko Yamane. Scott Morrison, who founded Paper Denim & Cloth in 1999 and Earnest Sewn in 2004, joined the company in May 2009 as CEO and chief creative officer. Neither Morrison nor Evisu’s owner, Bestford (HK) Ltd., could be reached for comment at the time of this article.
