The Vintage Show

by

Last weekend (June 25th-26th) was The Midwest Vintage Clothing, Jewelry, and Textile Show and Sale in the Fine Arts Building at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. After seeing a flyer in the U of M College of Design (the place where I spend most of my time as a retail merchandising student), I was very excited to attend the event. The show was open to anyone who paid the small entry fee to attend, including merchandise buyers and regular shoppers alike. The event also offered free parking, discounts to those wearing vintage, concessions, and fun activities such as contests, a cocktail bar, and a vintage fashion show. It was the perfect activity for a ladies’ night out!

Originally intending only to check out the event and see all the vintage pieces there, I was impressed with what I saw and even ended up making a few great purchases of my own. Below you can see the fur capelet, a 70’s statement necklace (stop by Drama to see our statement necklaces!), a turquoise and silver ring, and the pair of lace undershorts (which I will wear in a similar manner to leggings or bike shorts), that I got all for great deals and all on trend for now and this coming fall/winter season. As many of you have already discovered, vintage is great way to find unique additions to your wardrobe and a fabulous way to save money and make old things new again.

Disappointed you missed it? Well, you are in luck; Cat’s Pajamas Productions is doing another show in October (go to the Minnesota State Fair website for more details: http://www.mnstatefair.org/). So grab some friends and have a fun night at the vintage show! Oh, and don’t forget to come by Drama for a little shopping too ;).
